About Me

My photo
Cynthia
That's me in Godspell a few years back. At the beginning of my ministry I was an Associate Pastor in Dayton, OH, not knowing how marriage and children would change my life and my call. I was an interim pastor, supply preacher, and stay-home mom with 2 children for 16 years. I am now the settled pastor at the New Ark United Church of Christ in Newark, DE.

Save a life

“The things I thought were so important – because of the effort I put into them – have turned out to be of small value. And the things I was never able to either to measure or to expect, were the things that mattered.” --Thomas Merton

Putting things into perspective

I'm loaded.
It's official.
I'm the 29,907,929 richest person on earth!

How rich are you? >>
Past the Seeker as he prayed came the crippled and the beggar and the beaten. And seeing them he cried, "Great God, how is it that a loving creator can see such things and yet do nothing about them?" ...God said, "I did do something. I made you."

"We keep thinking of deity as a kind of fact, somewhere; God as a fact. God is simply our own notion of something that is symbolic of transcendence and mystery. The mystery is what's important."

Lord, teach me to seek You, and reveal Yourself to me when I seek You. For I cannot seek You unless You first teach me, nor find You, unless You first reveal Yourself to me. Let me seek You in longing, and long for You in seeking. Let me find You in love, and love You in finding. Amen.

~St. Ambrose (338-397 C.E.)
